Payment Methods

This page gives details of the various payment methods that are in use for the Hidden Earth event.

General Notes

Hidden Earth is an activity of the British Cave Research Association (BCRA). Your payment will be to BCRA.

Please note that BCRA is not registered for VAT and thus no VAT will be shown on any invoice. Specifically, the transaction is outside the scope of VAT, rather than being zero-rated or exempt.

In any request for payment we are obliged to remind you that the British Cave Research Association is a UK registered charity, number 267828. Our Registered Office is Old Methodist Chapel, Great Hucklow, BUXTON, SK17 8RG.

Online Payment

Our preferred method of payment is online. We use Nochex, which is a small UK company, to handle the transactioms. It is important that you make payment to the correct account otherwise we will have problems in retrieving the money. Unfortunately, (and just like at Paypal) account numbers look exactly like email addresses so it is easy, if you are not paying attention, to get this wrong!

Payment for Trade and Club Stands

If you would prefer to wait for an invoice , these are usually issued after the event. Please use the URL given on your invoice, as this will take you to Nochex with the correct account name, invoice number and payment amount already filled in.

Delegate Payments for Admission, Camping etc

Please use our online booking form, which will take you to Nochex as part of the payment process.

If you need to abandon your booking part-way through the process, please start again from the beginning. Please do not subsequently pay directly to Nochex, even if you have a booking reference, because payments made directly to Nochex do not show up in our online transaction log and it can take our volunteers a while to reconcile the transactions. Please always go through our booking form.

Ad-Hoc Payments

If you need to make an ad-hoc payment (e.g. to settle a bill when the booking form has closed, or if you have booked a stand in the trade hall), please use the boxes immediately below, and click on the Submit button. This will take you our Payment Service Provider, Nochex, with the data already filled in.

Bank Transfer

Bank transfers are to the main BCRA account, not to a special Hidden Earth account. So, if you decide to pay by bank transfer, please send an email to treasurer@hidden.earth to tell us what you have done, otherwise there could be a delay in tracing your payment.

Please use your invoice number as a payment reference or, if it is more convenient for you, just say HE trader or some other helpful description. Your invoice number will be (e.g.) HE25- followed by four digits.

If you are sending payment from a bank outside the UK please ensure that all the transaction fees are paid by yourself, and not deferred to the receiving bank.

Cheque

Please send a cheque made payable to British Cave Research Association to BCRA, Old Methodist Chapel, Great Hucklow, BUXTON, SK17 8RG. There is no need to send a covering letter, but please write Hidden Earth on the back of the cheque.
